first heat?

It took Tink more than a year. She just had her second heat and she will turn 2 in march. So I think it just depends on the dog. My yorkie has already turned one and hasnt gone into heat. I want to get them all spayed soon, Ive been working up the courage:)

Is there a certain age the dog has to be to be spayed, I know my vet said not to spay them while they are in heat, but that is all I know. :confused:
