I once bought a car seat for Chiquito and he didn't like it, so now when I'm not driving I keep Chikis in my arms and let my husband do the drivng.

O.P. usually sits in my lap while I'm driving (I know how dangerous that is, but he refuses to sit anywhere else, and howls if I don't let him). Most places I go allow dogs, so he's hand-held then. But when we go to the mall, or some other places (like Home Depot ???) he goes in the bag.

Hey Scooter,
Tex is a long hair Chi. He is about 5 1/2 lbs. The picture is from when he was only about 3 months old so his hair hadn't grown in yet. He has a slim body and long legs as well. He is white with brown markings. He is just the sweetest thing. I don't know what I would do without him :D

Since it is already hot here in Houston. I ordered a bag so, whenever a take Chikis for a walk and he gets hot,:) I can carry him in the bag.

On our out of state trips, Radar rides in his crate. But, for local errands he rides between us in the front seat in his seatbelt. After our accident in Arizona, he stays in his seatbelt instead of in my lap unrestrained. During our accident, I was holding him in my lap, but the impact threw him in the floor. I am totally against not restraining you dogs during trips. It is way too risky. I know from experience.

The wife and I travel a lot by 40' class A motorcoach and the 'boys' travel everywhere with us ( as all of our dogs have) in their heated crates. We have babie harness when we ride bicycles. Or soft travel crate when walking for distances. 'Course we also carry them . Our boys are too small now for the leash yet.
The car has a bed that radius the area from the back of the front seats up the rear seats and horizonally across the entire rear seat area..
We take the boys everywhere we go and if they are not welcome (stores , shops or resturants that won't allow them ,) we don't patonize them. We never leave any dogs alone in the motorcoach ever.

When we are driving, we take our Chi-babies with us, they love it. We've flown a few times, luckily, they were small enough to fit in the little airline crates under our seats. They don't like flying and neither does my hubby!

My wife used to fit both our Chihuahuas in one purse and she would carry them to the mall, grocery store, etc. Now we just hold them if we want to take them somewhere.
