I'm just wanting to know how you guys got your babies to start wearing clothes. I put a dress on my girl today (she is 8wks) and all she did was roll around and freak out. I have a collar on the way and I suppose she will react the same way about that. ADVICE PLEASE!! I love the idea of dressing her up.

O.P. came with clothes, I really didn't have any work to do...I suppose you could give her a treat every time you put a dress on so maybe she'll get the idea dresses are good.

Sorry I can't help you with that. Chikis refuses to wear clothes, and I just gave up. :p

I'd just kept at it. Princess wasn't particularly fond on collars or clothes when I first got her, but she got used to it over time. Just keep putting clothes or collars on for a short amount of time & slowly increase the time.

She should get used to them. Tink gave me a hard time in the beginning and sometimes she still does with certain type of outifts(4 legged outfits). I made her get used to them because in the winter she is freezing her tail off. She does great now.

I can't help you much either. Chili prefers to be "naked". LOL. But when I do put clothes on him he acts like he is being punished. He puts his tail between his legs and hides in a corner! LOL.

my scooter loves his outfits. at first he would want to like bite very softly, so i told him no, well i did change his clothes every day three times a day, and one day i decided , that he should be getting use to this by now. so when he trie d to bite me i barley flicked the side of his mouth, well he did not like that. so till this day, he doesnt even try to bite me. i tell him good boy when o put the outfits on. when he goes to bed at night with us i take off his jammies.now when i tell him moma is putting on his jammies he doesnt mind. it does take time. but hes such a good boy!! im so proud of him. hes so darn smart its unbelievable!!:) :) :) :) :)

Many people are amazed that Bo & Boquet are so calm in the stroller and don't mind being dressed up. My answer is usually that they've gotten used to it, because they do it often enought that they know to behave. How did they get that way? First, I started dressing up Bo, when he was young before I owned him (got him a 2 years). By the time Boquet came along, Bo was wearing hats to the nursing home and riding in stroller. At six weeks of age, she went to nursing home for first time with litter mates! At home, I practiced putting clothes and hats on Boquet.
Remember the three P's: practice, praise, and patience. Another thing is frequency and duration. At first only put the clothes on for a minute or two. Praise and/or reward your dog while the clothes are on him. Then take the clothes off, but don't emphasize it. Gradually increase the duration each time. Play with your dog while the clothes are on. Cuddle with him in your lap. Simply make having clothes on fun!

I guess I just got lucky! Missy only objected the very first time that I put clothes on her. After that, all I'd have to say is "come here lil miss, it's time to get dressed" during the daytime, and at night "come on lil miss, time for the jammies". Amazingly, after the very first time, she came on command and was very calm and relaxed, as was I, when we dressed her. The only thing she hates is her dresses. lol Guess she sees absolutely NO reason to have to wear one.

another tip for dressing up your pup- is to give it treats. After a while, it will think of it as a good thing. Also dress him up when you are going out too.. it will think everytime its dressing up- he gets to leave house with mommy. Eventually it will just get used to it

Trigger just rolls over and lets me put clothes on him whenever, I usually only do in the winter and I started it from when he was a puppy. He is a good little man and I guess now that I read this I'm lucky!!:D

Lolita is generally cold so she loves sweaters. She fights when I put them on but doesn't mind after she is already wearing them.

Tell her how beautiful she is and show her a mirror. It works everytime for all my kids. Really!

Bella hated clothes at first and still does kinda hate them LOL! She smashes her head into the ground and rolls on her back trying to get it off. She also will bite at the sleeve and try and rip it off herself,LOL.
