Please help us. We recently lost our beloved 10 year old Chihuahua, and are heartbroken.
We are looking for a male puppy who is oversized. Unlike most, we want a big boy, larger than breed standard, not a tiny little one. We are not interested in breeding, just a "pet quality" Chi.
You can either post a reply or PM me.
Thank you all for your help!

Does anyone actually look at this forum? It has been over a month since my original post, and not even one reply?

Hi Roger o.......I haven't had any luck. I hope you find one soon. All I can find are tiny guys.

Roger-
Where are you located? Are you only looking for a puppy or would you consider a rescue? Would a chi mix be acceptable?
I would be glad to keep an eye out for you, but I don't know of any breeders.

If anyone still reads this forum...
We are still looking for a large male Chi puppy. If you have one for sale, or know of a breeder with one, please let me know.
Please be prepared to send pictures of the pup. We cannot adopt a puppy withput at the very least seeing pictures of him first!
Thanks to all for your help.

I am new to this forum as of today. We have only been showing chihuahuas for the last 4 years. Last year we did win at the National Chihuahua Club of America with 2 of our long coat females.
You didn't specify if you wanted long coat or smooth coat male.
It's very hard to determine what you mean by a large male chihuahua "puppy". AKC defines puppies as up to 18 months. We really never know if they are going to be large (over AKC size range) until they are 18 to 24 months and then what is meant by large. I have some that I can't put in the ring anymore because they have gone over the 6 lb max in the chihuahua weight range. I have one of my older guys that I've really become attached to that won the St. Pete Show 4 years ago that is now between 9 and 10 lb. For a show breeder I prefer not to have a male that is over 5.0 lb so a perfectly acceptable show male that is 5 to 6 lb I would not keep and would consider oversized. Also as far as "puppies" go none of mine are available until they are at least 16 weeks old. It takes that long to really know if they are initially going to be able to get in the ring or not (did both testicles drop? did their body length become female size instead of male size? Is the nose just a hair too long - the judges like their noses to be no more than a 1/4 to a 1/3 of their head size eventhough the standards say it can be 1/2)
You also do not state if you have children? if so what ages? Since you had a 10 year old male chihuahua you must have the necessary yard space etc for a new one - you didn't say how the one that passed died. What was he like? What were some of the things you loved about him? Each dog has it's own unique personality and I would like to see if any of mine that would be available has a similiar personality.
Getting one to you should not be too dificult as I have a nephew attending Graduate School in NYC whose parents are in Chicago not too far from me.
If you can let me know about these things I can get pictures to you if you are interested.
