eye problem???

ok guys ...my chi has teary eyes all the time. It does not look infected or no puss nothing....what to I do and is there a remedy???

As far as I have researched this is a normal occurence in chi's. As long as no puss or discharge it should be ok

i just read somewhere the other day that because of the size of there eyes and because they walk so close to the ground they produce tears more often to wash out anything that may get into there eyes and to keep there eyes lubricated,its funny because sometimes when Gretchen shakes her head she flings her tears all over me.:D

yes its normal its even worse when there white cause they get aweful stains

My chihuahua, "Lucy", knows when we say "hold still". Means I lick my fingers or get a wet washrag, then we gently rub under her eyes and get rid of the "crusties". Because she is silver, it doesn't show the 'eye stains'. The lighter the hair color, the more it will show up.

My vet told me it is because they have larger than normal eyes that 'protrude', and their lack of long eyelashes it was causes the tears to drip out.

No worries, just train your dog to let you clean the eye area. My dog actually looks forward to it, as if it was some kind of massage or something....:) :)
