Your Chi's breeder: Did U Have a Good Experience or Bad??

It seems like many Chi owners had a bad experience with the breeder they got their precious pup from..... just look at some of the breeder reviews!!

I am actually in the process of waiting out some postings to see if Maya's owners claim her. One of our clients at the animal hospital I work for brought her in to have her checked out. Apparently on talking to her neighbors, one of her neighbors saw someone putting something in her backyard after dark. Apparently it was Maya who was found by the clients two dogs. The Client is 7 months pregnant, restrictive mobility because of same, and hubby says no more dogs! So I offered to keep her while we waited two weeks for the owners to claim her via the neighborhood flyers she and the kids posted. My mom has always wanted a Chi and so I thought this would be a great opportunity to finally get one for her. Except she has 4 cats and Maya likes to chase them!! Fortunately my cat is patient and doesn't always run so Maya is getting used to her. So I have decided (actually the hubby who is currently in school for the Navy in CA, did!) that Maya will have a home with us if no one claims her. I have always wanted a small dog and the two of us have become quite tight in the week I have had her thus far. I had never had very good vibes on Chi's cause I have always seen them as very territorial, nippy little dogs who seem to be big fear bitters. So Maya has been an outstanding ambassador for her breed! I have learned so much about Chi's and their behavior from her the whole week I have had her.

So far so good! I think she will end up staying here. I have not had even a peep from our client on anyone calling. She will be mine on Friday! She is a little sprite and I love her! So does one of my great danes, Skylar. They are playmates and have a blast together (supervised of course!!). So fingers crossed, she is mine. Because of the neighbor seeing someone drop Maya into our clients fenced in yard then leaving, I really do believe she was abandoned. She is a real sweetie and SUPER hyper. Is that normal for Chi's? She needs to be spayed so as soon as Friday comes and goes, she gets spayed! Healthier for her and don't need any pups! Not that she can have any as all my other dogs are spayed and neuter for the same reason. But she is a cool little dog. As I said, she is a fantastic ambassador for her breed. Sure has opened my eyes as to why chi owners are such die hard owners!

It's good to know that she will have a nice and forever home. Chi's can very very hyper. I definetly recommend spay and neuter your pets. Congratulations on your new addition to your family :)

My breeder was wonderful! Bella is healthy and gorgeous. All of her dogs are adorable and she doesn't overbreed.

My breeder was okay..I love the dog but she waas a disaster the house was litterally falling apart and the dogs were all outisde in the yard.

I have only talked about my daughter's chihuahua, George. He is from a pair of my Chihuahuas. But my very first Chihuahua was from a kennel in Salisbury, NC called Leonard's. Peewee was a real cutie and stayed small. But I have always wondered if they were aware that only one of his testicles would come down.:confused: My vet said it was hereditary. They had lots of dogs spread out over a lot of land in different bulidings. But yet still seemed to know who was who.

Our breeder is great, I don't say that lightly either.

Our boys were home bred ( which includes both parents and two other adult Chihuahuas plus a big dog who is a sweetheart with the little guys). The breeder , Katherin encouraged us to visit our boys since they were 4 weeks old several times a week. Katherin has sent us email pictures and calls everyother day to tells us how our guys are doing i.e. teething, eating, potty training progress and how they are playing.
This breeder loves each of her pups and it shows as she interveiws potenial owners. (I was there as she denied one family a pup because they had an outside pitbull dog. Another potenial owner was denied because she had very small children that also seemed to me to be unruly and a possible threat to a small dog).
I'm very pleased with our breeder.

My breeder is soooo sweet! She asked me to take pictures of Brownie as she grows up! I think it's sweet. She also gave us 2 months free of the AKC pet insurance! :)

I got my two from a breeder who was wonderful! She really loved the dogs and I still keep in touch with her so she can see the dogs from time to time.

Im a new chihuahua mom and my breeder was great. She was going to keep him for show but he is a bit too long. He is socialized, housetrained and a complete love bug!!!

I had a wonderful experience with Lexi and Patch's breeder--we are friends now and have regular (i.e. DAILY) correspondence! It was great meeting Terri as I had so many sketchy experiences prior to finding Lexi and was just getting immensely frustrated with the amount of backyard breeders out there. Not long after Lexi, Patch joined our family and I will be purchasing Lexi's mother in the new year. :D

What I loved most about my breeder was the fact that she was breeding for her own show prospects, not to supply puppies for an already overwhelmed pet population. She was so stringent with asking me about myself before even letting me know whether or not Lexi was still available that I knew the puppy was coming from an extremely loving environment. To top it all off, she has kids and a huge dog at home and her dogs are incredibly well socialized as a result, which was exactly what I wanted. So I am going back for 3rds :D

We got our Margy from a lady who was to meet us at a Wal-Mart parking lot. She said she lived too far out in the country to give directions. That is believeable if you know this area. She was very nice on the phone and gave lots of info about the pup and her parents. She said she had wormed the pup and that she has been given two sets of shots.

Turns out that she sent a man to the "meet" instead of coming herself. Then, well, after the first poo, I knew she hadn't been wormed. (if you know what I mean)

So, I am ignoring everything the woman said and getting her started all over again. I don't guess it was a "bad" experience, it was just not a great one.

The best part of it was that I got my little Margarita. Even tho she is very stubborn, I love her alot and she is an angel.

I really really liked my breeder!!! She doesn't do it for the money at all. And they are her indoor pets. I've heard she was very ethical for a breeder. She gave me a year garuntee on genetic health problems and will replace him with a dog of equal value. She had him up to date on all vet work, gave me a bag of dog food, and said I had to give him back if I ever wanted to get rid of him! :p Like I would do that!

The breeder i got my molly from was a tad on the sketchie side. Their home was very messy and unsanitary. They had a 3 male chi pups about 7 weeks, a mother dog, and two adults. In the corner they had kennels ontop of each other. The breeder even offered to babysitt my pup if i were to go away at all. For 20$ a night..ha what a joke! I am so glad i took molly home with me that day! She has an amazing life ahead of her now :)

I had my son circumsized before I knew the harm in it. I feel very sad that I did that but I will never have my future sons circumsized, so I voted no.
