I am having my chi Chili neutered tomorrow (thank goodness!!) he will be a year old in January I waited entirely too long to have him neutered & he is now hvaing some behavior issues he is marking his territory everywhere inside & out he is also peeing on my other chi I was told that he is trying to be alpha dog & dominate the other dogs. My question is will he stop doing this after he is neutered? & how long will it take for this behavior to stop after his neuter? He is driving me nuts I have been keeping him in his crate most of the time to prevent him from ruining my house & I feel terriable about this but I dont know what else to do. I called the vet this morning & luckily they had a cancelation so I can have his neuter done a week earlier so he wont have to stay crated much longer. Can any one offer any advice or have they been in a similar situation?

If neutering your Chi doesn't end that behaviour try a "bellyband".
I know of many breeders who use a bellyband for their studs to prevent them from marking their territory around their homes.... the alpha-male behaviour should stop with neutering because once the hormones are no longer surging thru your precious pup, he won't feel as aggressive & dominating.
good Luck!!:D

i would also try a belly band. i have a male ig that was neutered a couple days after he was born (hernia) and he lifts his legs. i also have a couple boys that were not neutered unitl about 10 months and they both squat. think it just depends on the dog.
as far as your mans little attitude. the neuter will calm him down a bit but if he wants to be alpha he will remain trying until he either gets it or learns hes not going to.

I had my chi neutered Jan 30th-he is so aggressive that him and his son fight constantly, the son is getting neutered tomorrow, it takes 6-8 wks for the testerone to leave their system, then time will tell, I was told it will either work or not, does your dog know his commands like sit, stay& come, well it has been 4 days that I have been teaching mine the commands, and the father is doing real good, he comes and sits knowing he will get a treat, right now they both mark over everything in my house, so I am constantly cleaning, I am keeping my fingers crossed that this neutering will stop that, Good luck to you Mookie:eek:when I catch them marking, I put one of them in a playpen and the other behind a babygate.
