This is probably common knowledge, but I was wondering how exactly do you all teach your Chi's that biting is a no-no? My Lucy is 9-weeks-old and all mouth! She's like Jaws and bites everything she can get into her mouth, including my hands. I know she's just playing and not aggressive at all, but those little teeth are like needles and hurt!

What we've been doing to correct the behavior is saying, "No!", sometimes clapping our hands to startle her, then redirecting her to a toy. Do you guys have any other ideas?
Here's Lucy aka Jaws. lol!

cbatusf;
as for bitting your fingers or some other part of your body , we copy what pups teach each other and that is to let out a loud Yipp! The pup will stop. Then put the pup down and stop playing with it for a while. The social learning behavior of pups (or you) interacting with each other will teach the pup not to bite or play hard enough to hurt one another . The other pups will not play with a bully. Being social creatures pups will learn to play nicely.
Now as for biting everything else, some of that maybe teething. Our Poncho is all mouth, trying to bite the kitchen cabinet doors, throw rug edges, crate door, blanket tags, ect, ect. I try to subsitute those items for proper chew toys.

We tend to grab the top or bottom of the muzzle and hold it for 5-20 seconds. They really hate the feeling and soon stop the behaviour. If they are biting hard we YIP loud and high so they know they are hurting. We try to stop them from mouthing body parts and encourage it on their stuffed animals. (Make sure the stuffed anical has no loose parts or plastic parts or eyes as these are choking hazards)

We do not allow it in case a child plays with then and yanks their hand away. Even if the pup isn't biting, skin can get caught on those sharp teeth, resulting in a fearful child.
