Hi,
Chihuahuas sometimes have their ears "flop" due to teething so it can be as late as 7 months before they come up completely. They can also flop when ill.
Did you see both parents? If one parent has weak ear leather they may not come up at all.
I hope this helps!

Hi. I was really worried about my poppies ears coming up, and she is now 9 months old and one ear is still floppy...it seems some moments she can raise it, but the majority of the time it is floppy. I have decided I will be happy if it never comes up...it is an adorable look actually!!! It is something to wonder about though...I still will keep watching, and being hopeful I guess. The vet said sometimes massaging the ears gently upward might help, and an experienced show-person told me to tape her ears for a few weeks and give her hard beef bones to chew on and that would make a huge difference. I never did it tho. These tricks might work...you could try it.

i have found that you can tape up the ears for no more than a week at a time. the tape should be changed every couple of days. my little boy chi had floppy ears so i read a a couple of chihuahua books and this is what they told me. so i tried it. it worked in two days. his ears are standing now. but chis ears need this done before they are 6 months of age if you want them to stand. that si if they arent doing it on there own. good luck i hope this helps. as for the hard chews i dont like to give them to any dogs. most of those types are not really digestable. they use firmaldihyde to make raw hydes and other such types. there have been cases of raw hydes and other close variations killing dogs. like i said they are not digestable so what they swallow is what will pass or not pass. some cases the peice they swallowed had a sharp spot on it and cut open the stomach or intestines which then causes septosimia which poisons them and kills them. so good luck.

Hey! Happy New Year! I got your message delivered to my e-mail...I rarely come to the forum anymore...seemed to have learned so much there in the first life of my doggies life! Thank God for forums!!! Anyway...my Lulla Belle is now (I had to stop and add the months up) almost 2 years old. When she got to about 14 months, her ears both stood up well, with no further drooping! I did not ever use bones, but did use chewy chicken (dried)...just out of fear of the danger in the other things. I just want to say (for the benefit of other readers), that I found my little girl to be extremely cute even with her ears down, or one up and one down...any way at all...I was happy to have her just as she would be. I call her my "heart" now...I love her so much it is rediculous...I cannot tell you how much having her has changed my life! Thanks for your reply! God bless Chi's!!!
