Hi, we have been looking for a true "teacup" female puppy. We have seen a few puppies and the owners claim the puppies will be small, around 4-5 lbs but when we see the parents they are about 6-8 lbs. We want a TINY girl, less than 5 lbs. I have been checking online sites such as kijiji, backpage and azcentral but have not found any "teacup" puppies. I have also googled breeders in AZ and have 1 or 2. We DO NOT want to ship the puppy because we want to see her in person and ensure that she is healthy and that her parents are TINY. If you or someone you know has bought a puppy from a breeder in or around Phoenix (less than 2 hours from Phoenix) please let us know. Also if you know anyone who has "teacups" for sale please let us know. We are looking for a female longhaired or shortahired black or tan/white or chocolate. Thank you :)

Same thing with chihuahuas.

There is no such breed! The Yorkshire Terrier breed standard classifies Yorkies as up to 7 pounds. They may weigh from 4 to 7 pounds. If a breeder or pet store is selling a "teacup" or "mini", run away! They may be shady and misrepresenting the Yorkie. The tiny ones may be sold too early, perhaps just so they can call them "teacups" or a "mini". If you are set on a smaller Yorkie, ask your breeder when their next litter will be. There will be some "smaller" Yorkies in the litter from which to choose from. A respected breeder that is AKC registered. While that does not always determine that they are to be trusted 100%, there are standards and qualifications that AKC registered breeders must pass.

There are small, full-grown Yorkies that may only weigh 2 pounds. But, it is very rare for Yorkies to be that small. If you have a Yorkie that is on the small side of the scale, you must be very careful with them, as they are definitely more "fragile" than standard sized ones and you must take extra precautions with them, such as making sure they don't fall from a high place or that they don't jump off of places.

Oh Also just because the parents are small doesnt mean the puppy won't get big It's Grandparent or Even Great Grandparent may have been big & It could take after one of them.
There is No guarantee on size.

I do agree with austinsmom. There's no SKU to scan and prove the dog will be a certain weight. Unfortunatley these teeny tiny dogs are the result of breeding runts and for some end up just fine, but others may have extreme health problems. When we first got my puppy and she had to go to the vet every other week for shots and such, there was a yorky that weighed under 2 pounds there every single time because he was always sick :( and he was 3 years old! You could also check local shelters as many chis if not all in shelters are full grown after 1 year and you could know the size definatley. I felt the same way as you for about 2 years prior to purchasing my chi and finaly went with a breeder who a. didnt push the teacup thing, and b. asked ME all the questions to ensure I was a suitable mom. In the end harper is already almost 7 pounds and only 6 months old! Her mom was 7 pounds and her dad was around 5ish haha but the thing is..SHES SO SMALL! I cant imagine having a smaller dog..I think i would literally break her! Sorry Im rambling, just trying to give you some options. I found harper on Kijiji and had great sucess with multiple breeders-some so helpful and others clearly in it for the money! Good luck on your search and please let us know!:)

I agree. My name is stephanie my bambi is a so called teacup..I got him at a petstore and knew nothing of puppymills. He came from a place called hurlimen kennels. http://www.news9.com/global/story.asp?s=9736944
That is a link of their facility and how bad it is. Ramsey bambis yorkie brother died of one of that same ailments that bambi almost died from. Bambi has colitis bloody stool, a collapsing treacha and grade 2 luxicating patella...and its hard to see my baby be in pain..and have to take rimidel to be able to run and play at the age of one....yea sure you want the teacup..but when u ask for a teacup the puppies have too many aliments..

Iplease support..the oklahoma pet assurance act and contact your local congressmen...

There is no such breed as a "teacup", and any breeder that advertises as such is lying to you. "Teacup" is a word that backyard breeders and puppymill breeders use to trick you into believing you are getting a special type of Chihuahua, when what they are really doing is trying to breed puppies as tiny as they can, which is extremely unhealthy for the dogs.
It doesn't matter what size your Chihuahua is - mine range from 5 pounds to 9 pounds - they ALL have that same sweet disposition and great big personality. The greatest thing in the world you could do is go to a Chihuahua rescue and adopt a homeless little baby and give her a loving, forever place to call her own.

There really is no such thing. The AKC standard for Chihuahua weight is under 6 pounds. So for example, a 3 pound Chihuahua is standard size.

It's true, there's no such thing as a "teacup" of any breed. It's a marketing tactic, and people selling "t-cups" are generally profit driven breeders rather than health oriented breeders; the tiny so-called "t-cups" have more health problems that you'd think... (Trust me, I'm a vet assistant and see so many sickly tiny toy breeds)

Plus everyone has a different idea as to what a "small" toy breed is... I have a 6.5 pound Chihuahua, she's large for the breed but some people think she's sooo tiny! Then on the other hand, people see my 4 pound male and say "arn't Chihuahuas supposed to be smaller?". It's so strange.

Are you guys sure the skating is at MHM. Last year it was a teacup. There is absolutely no way I am racing the classic....unless they let me use my new EPO replacement..IPOD.
