i'm sure someone has asked this question before, but i'm new to the site and am still learning to get around this site. A friend of mine told me today that Otis is not purebred because at the age of 6mths now, he is 6 lbs. 2 questions...1) How can i tell if he is P.B....he sure as heck looks Pure to me. and 2) at what age do chi's usually stop growing. I added some photo's of him in an album

I mean what is a pure breed??...infact in any breed whos to knows:rolleyes: i have 2 chi's at the moment one is bigger than the other but i coulnt give a CHI what size they was i love them no matter just like you do with yours...:D

there are different size of chi's all over the world ...:D

Look purebreed to me? My chi is 6 months old and already weighs 6 pounds! Her mom was 7 and dad was 4, so we'll see! They say by a year they should be full grown.

he looks all chi to me too

he looks the deer type like my bindi which means he has the longer nose n longer body.
my bindi is 4 - 4 and a half lbs now and is 9months old but is a whopping 12" long lol


chi's come in a wide range of sizes n colours..
in the show ring they have to have a perfect apple dome head and weigh under 6lbs but hey unless you show then you wont have a problem.

chi's can range from 2lb to 12lb. i have even met a 14lb chi along my way
they should stop growing in length and height by the age of one and then continue to fill out until their 18months. but as far as i have heard they grow in growth spurts making it impossible to judge an adult weight...

dont know how right the info i just gave is,. bindi is my first chi but this is what ive heard from other chi owners

Some Chihauhua's are just Bigger. It doesnt mean there not Pure. If you really want you can get a Dna Test Done.
