Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I'm a work at home mom with a 6 (almost 7) year old boy and a 4 year old girl. We just rescued our dog Tater from a local shelter. He is a Chihuahua / Terrior mix about 7 years old and he weighs about 12 1/2 pounds. He is our first dog and we are so happy to have him. He is such a good dog. Not sure why he ended up in a shelter. He is very good with my kids and cats. he is housetrained and he responds to some commands so he has some training. We've had him about two weeks and his personality is starting to bloom. He is already very attached to me and he loves to sleep under his blanket. He's a good sport when I want to dress him up :) I made him a t-shirt in the school's colors when I took him to show in tell at my son's class. It said "Dennis Township Primary Dog". And I made him a matching team shirt for my son's t-ball games. It has his name above the number 00. I tried to make it say 1/2 but the letters didn't come out right! My husband thinks it's silly but the kids love it!

My sister has 3 chihuahuas and my mother has 1. We were waiting for our kids to get a little older before we brought a small dog into the house. My sister starting making clothes for her very very small chi, TaMolly many years ago. If grew into a business . . . but she had to give it up so I took it over about 3 years ago and made it my own. It's a very small business but it keeps me home with my kids. I am addicted to fabric and I love to sew so it's really the perfect job for me.

I'm really looking forward to being part of the group.

Hello Bobbie!
Welcome to CT!
I love hearing stories of adoptions, and yours is wonderful!
I myself love dressing my little girl(she even knows "left" for left paw, and "rght" for right paw) I take babies and childrens clothes and alter then into little dresses and shirts and people have always told me I could sell them but I think Ill stick to my lady. SO I Admire you and your work! That sounds like so much fun and I bet your children love having you at home! I would love to see some of your designs in the future! Welcome and Enjoy your stay!

Hi Whitney,

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I've seen some converted kids clothes to dog clothes on ebay. They are cute and I think they sell pretty well. I don't do this because it doesn't make sense for me to do one off designs. Too much work involved! I'd also love to see some of your designs. My designs are on my website. I don't know the rules about posting links so I won't do it here but the name of my store is "mytinydog". I haven't made much for tater yet. Just a couple of personalized t-shirts for my son's school and t-ball team. The kids really love it. I'm going to get some pictures of him and post them when I have the time!

We are really enjoying getting to know our new dog. His personality is coming out. He's such a sweet dog but very demanding when he wants to go out for his walk! I took him to the groomer yesterday for the first time and she said he didn't have a mean bone in his body and that he was a great dog. Only cried like a baby when his nails were trimmed. Poor Tater :(

It's hard to work from home with my daughter around. She's only 4 and wants all of my attention. I try to save my sewing for the weekends and if I'm really busy a friend of mine watches her while I work during the weekday. The past month has been really slow. I guess with the bad economy people are cutting back on dressing their baby's. 4th of July is usually my best month of the year so we'll see how it turns out this year. The bright side is that when it's slow in the summer I get to go to the beach with my family instead of staying at home sewing :)

By for now. I'm off to my workshop to "work" if you want to call it that!
