I adopted a chi early jan this year. He got neuterd at the time of adoption. He was said to be about 2 yrs old. Since he has been with us, his coat color changed gradually from very light yellow to light brown (darker intensity at the back area). I wonder if there is anything I should be concerned about. Was it due to the diet change? from neuter? Perhap from regular as oppose to premium food that we used? I already recently change to premium food. I'm new to Chi, in fact I'm new to dog so any suggestion would be very appreciated.

A Chihuahuas' coat changes from birth to about 10-12 years old. The colors become richer, some spots become larger or blend in with the ones next to them. They become darker or lighter, and some go from one color to another like blue to fawn, or black to a brown undercoat. Some white dogs develop spots getting freckles of color or large spots of color.
There is nothing to worry about unless they begin to lose large patches of fur.
Just one idea ... I heard that if you feed your light - coloured chihuahua with a food that contains a lot of carotene, the coat colour might change in a darker way (because carotene gives orange pigment).
Greetings :)
