Ted is becoming so destructive! when I go to work and come home he has jumped up on my coffee table had tore up my arrangments, chews remotes, anything, he jumps up on my desk, my vanity and the other day I had left my prescription bottle on my desk as I had to call in a refill, i had one tablet in it, when I came out of the bathroom there was the bottle lid tore off and the tablet on the floor:eek: this pill was a narcotic! I have never had a problem with sami or tilly getting into things like ted is doing! one of them could have eaten this and possibly died!! I bought a baby gate and gated off the living room when I went to work, came home and he was out!! living room a mess he jumped over!! the next day I put the gate up and stacked some TV trays on top of it to make it higher but yep he jumped over it! I even tried stacking my dinning rm chairs, he still jumps over! I do not know what to do!! anyone have any suggestions? I dont want to have to give him up sami and ted are like brothers and play all the time tilly is to old to play with sami, but I cannot baby proof my home, he needs to learn, but he just gets into to everything and anything! do they have a behavior school for this kind of thing without hurting him? anyone have any sugestions?

How old is Ted? Because when my golden retriever was a puppy he did the exact same thing, chewed everything he could get, shoes, wallets, electronics, etc. So we started taking him to a behaivior class, he is much better now but ocasionly when he gets bord still likes to chew papers and little things. Ted might be lonley or bord, that is what we think was wrong with Opus. But keep us posted.:)

I think he is probably a candidate for crate training. Even if your other dogs didn't need a crate, remember that crates are not only a good way to housebreak a dog, they also keep him safe while you are gone. That thing with the pill could have been tragic! I had something similar happen with my pup...so I know how your heart must have stopped!
Good luck!

that sounds like separation anxiety to me.:(
Ted just turned 1yr old on dec 5th! if I crate him while im gone, Im afraid he will scratch threw it, or chew through it? the crate is nylon and mesh, you could be right about the separation anxiety as he is the only one that starts to cry when I leave the house and head for the car I can hear him, poor baby, but I don't know what else to do? he has now started peeing on my bed pillows and last night I saw sami do it:eek: when i caught sami (will turn 1 yr dec 17) and scolded him he looked at me like what's wrong? what did I do?, So Im really not sure what to do I don't want to spank them! I raise my voice and ted runs for cover but sami just sits there? he isn't effected? sometimes I think sami is mentally challenged
Thanks for all your thoughts on my problem.

I don't have a chi yet, but with all my other dogs, I had them crate trained till about 2. It was what was best for me and them..well...and my house! it gives then security even though they won't like it at first! I mean my big dog cedar loves taking naps in his crate even though he doesn't need it during the day!
