Hi there,

I just recently adopted a little chihuahua. His name is Speedy, because he's really, really fast. I have started agiliy with him and so far no other little dog can keep up with his speed.
This is the first Chihuahua I have ever owned, I have done a lot of research on the breed and the breed discription matches his personality to the tee. However he stands 11" tall and weighs 7 Lbs. Does that mean, that he's just a big chihuahua ( pet quality) or do you guys think he's mix. Either way I'll still love him the same.
Here are some pics of him, please let me know if you guys think he's pure or not.

Thank you, I look forward to getting to know you guys and hearing about your little dogs.

Hmm, I guess this wasn't the right place to post my question, since I haven't received any feedback. I can understand that, since this was my first post and maybe you guys thought I wasn't going to stick around, but I am.
So I am still open to suggestions as far as Speedy's heritage, so feel free to give me some opinions. In fact I would really like that.

Thanks:)

Thanks for your reply, mzferrari.
I guess Chihuahuas do vary quite a bit in size and coat texture, even among the smooth Chihuahuas there can be quite a bit of a difference in coat texture.
Do you have any pics of your little ones?
Here is a pic of speedy at his agility trial this past weekend.

I think he is pure. I'm not an expert but he looks all Chihuahua to me. By the way, he is very cute!! Welcome to CT.:)
P.S. It's nice of you adopting a Chi, there are so many chi's out there who need a family.

Im new also Speedysmom. He looks all chi to me. I had doubts about Lola (2 yr 7 lb) but i understand that not all chis are tiny. I think he is beautiful.

Yup, he does look all chi. They have a semi-breed of chihuahua called the Deer Chihuahua, and those are slightly bigger than a normal chihuahua, with really long legs. He might be that.

Thanks for the input guys. I think he's great. I never thought I'd be a chihuahua person, until I adopted him....they have so much personality.

I thought the same thing when I adopted Toby. I always thought that chihuahuas were mean little devils, but when I opened the door to Toby's cage, he did nothing but jump out and play with me. It was love at first sight. Also, my min pin mix looks like your baby, except she's black and brown.

Ya know I didnt either. I have had dogs all of my adult life. Mostly mix breeds from the pound or the paper. Then we had puppies and of course we kept one. My dogs have always been such a joy, and I loved them all. Most of my dogs lived to be 15 to 18 years old. I have been very lucky. But I never knew how different it would be with my little Lola Baby. It just different! I would never even put a bandana on a dog and now I design and make dresses and coats for my little darlings (Lola and Ruby) Im THAT:) kind of person.
