View Full Version : Your Chi's Name
Just curious on how you came up with your baby's names. With Tex, he has a spot on the top of his head and my dad thought it looked like the state of Texas (he has quite an imagination), so Tex just kinda stuck in my mind. Not to mention I love country music and watching rodeo's. :D

Chili got his name after going days without a name and we just kind of settled on it. The first day I had him, my dad suggested Chili, cause Chi's are supposed to be mexican or something. I thought it was silly and after going 3 or 4 days with no name I finally said ok I guess it's Chili, the poor little guy needed a name!!!
Chili is a cute name, there are a lot of chihuahua's with Mexican names. There is actually a city in Mexico named Chihuahua! ;)

That is really neat how you got Tex's name. I just really loved the name tinkerbell 2 years ago. It seriosuly has nothing to do with Paris hiltons dog becasue first off I dont like Paris Hilton and 2 years ago I didnt even know she had a chi named tinkerbell. Everyone assumes that why I named my chi that:rolleyes:
I bet that is annoying, when I told my neighbor I was getting a Chihuahua he said "Oh so you can be like Paris Hilton" I said "Yeah, right" She doesn't even have her Chi Tinkerbell anymore because it got too big to be an "accessory". What a great roll model! Guess poor Tinkerbell wasn't so "hot" anymore.

O.P. stands for Optimus Prime, 'cause he's a small dog, i figured he could use a big name...so he got named after a Transformer!
Optimus Prime....That's great! I remember watching that with my brother when we were little. O.P. is more than meets the eye, right? ;)

Thats so cool cause we used to have a dog named Gizmo.:D
ilovemypuppy - My brother thinks I should have named Tex Gizmo, he says he sounds like him when he whines - hee hee. Very cute name.
MellysMom - I would have never thought to put Melly and Jean together, sounds adorable and very original. Do you just call her Melly for short or MJ?
opthedogfather - I am glad Tex doesn't turn into a Semi-Truck. Can you imagine all the people asking if they could borrow him? When I got my SUV it was bad enough - I should have charged people and opened a moving company. :p

well my chi's name is jake. I saw both names jake and niko on a dog name list, then i made a post on next day pets and asked what they liked best. But when I went to get him he just looked so much like a jake, so thats how it happened.
We had tossed around alot of names and just came out with Chuwee and it stuck. We didnt want to spell it like Chewy, so my husband started spelling it different ways, and then said, well, he is a small WEE chihuahua. So there ya have it Chuwee..lol

Bo-
Bo already named when I got him, because he'd been already owned. It was so cute and a liked it.
Boquet-
When Bo's look-a-like daughter was born, we wanted to give her a name with Bo in it. When I was talking on the phone with a friend, she suggested "Boquet". It fit perfectly and she lives up to it when she wears hats with flowers.
Some people really think it's cute to have two dogs named "Bo & Boquet". I personally think they are a great pair!

We name Chiquito because he was so small when we got him (he is still small) and since he is a Chihuahua, nothing would go better than a name in spanish so my husband and I decided Chiquito. We were debating between Chiquito or taco, but we went for Chiquito.;)

Radar go his name from the size of his ears. When David brought him home, the first thing I said was...."Man, that dog could pick up radar!" So the name just kinda stuck.
We had two names to choose from *both submitted by my daughter* Sassy, and Missy...I thought she looked like a Missy, so Missy it was. ;)

My chi's name is Toby One Kenobi. My stepdad is a really big Star Wars fan, and when we were at the pound, there was a dog by the name of Toby that my mom liked. Fortunately, she liked our Toby better, and when she told Jerry about the other dog, he said that Toby was going to be his name.

Hi, Karen! I'm Stephanie. I'm sorta a new chi mom too, even though I was raised with a pomchi. Now I have a long haired, full blood chi named Toby. He's my baby. Chihuahuas can get really... territorial if you don't socialize them at an early age, so if I were you, I'd take Kramer to a dog park or something. I have no doubt that, if we didn't take Toby to the dog park, he'd be really protective of me and my sister. He already hates men as it is, but he doesn't do much more than hide from them. But since we take him at least twice a week to the park, he gets to socialize and whatnot.

Our new guy is Mufasa Macchiato. Mufasa because he is the bravest guy in the house and loves to be treated like Royalty. Macchiato because of his coloring and because he shares the house with two females (non chi's) named Mocha and Latte. We couldn't decide on one of the names so we gave him a first and last.

Before I got my pooch, I spent lot's of time managing the opening of a new bar at the theatre were I work. I was doing things like wine tastings and choosing beers. After the bar was finally open and running for a few weeks, I finally got my 8 week old baby. One of the beers I chose for the bar, was Stella Artois. When I got her, it was the first thing that came to mind. It's also a perfect name for a theatre dog. When I can't find her, I call her name ala Street Car Named Desire.

Our 9 week old is named Paco.
"Paco is a nickname for the Spanish name of Francisco, a form of Francis.
The nickname has its origins in Saint Francis of Assisi, who was the father of the Franciscan order. His name was written by the order as Pater Comunitatis (Father of the community); by taking the first two letters of each word, the name Paco is obtained."
Just a little research into the name.

Barney Fife got his name from well....you can guess!! And he is such a Barney Fife. He even answers when I call him "deputy."
Joey is because I saw some baby kangaroos on tv and thought they looked like Chihuahuas so I named my next one Joey.
Then my third is Henry because I just came across the name and it felt right - and when I got him it was perfect - he is our little Henry!
Last, but not least, I got my fourth from Chihuahua rescue in October. His name was Howie, but I didn't like that so I changed it to Kegan. Again, I saw it on a name list and it felt right. Kegan means "little flame" so I liked that, too.
My baby's calling name is Clea and her registered name is Won-a-pa-lei Funny-face :)

Julian Chander
it took me forever to pick the first name - I loved the name Julian right away, but we asked all our friends and relatives for "J" names and then picked our favorites, wrote them on pieces of paper and threw all the pieces on the ground, and let our min pin pick a paper. Julian was picked! it was meant to be.
Chander means moon in Hindu, so that's his middle name cause he has a white moon shape on his chest.
it was between Chander and Mizuki (beautiful moon). we're still not 100% decided.
